Before you increase delivery-app ad spend

Advertising can put your restaurant in front of more customers. Before increasing the budget, check what happens after someone sees the listing. A campaign cannot resolve an unavailable menu or an unclear offer.

Check the basics first

Review opening hours, item availability, menu photographs and recent cancellations. Make sure the offer is easy to understand and that your team can prepare the orders it is intended to generate.

If customers visit the menu but do not order, investigate that gap alongside visibility. More traffic may not be the first change the restaurant needs.

Compare like with like

Review each outlet and platform separately. Compare similar trading periods and note changes to opening hours, menu prices, promotions or availability that could affect the result.

A platform’s return-on-ad-spend figure describes sales it attributes to advertising. It does not, by itself, show restaurant profit or prove every attributed order was additional business.

Agree the next action

Keep a short record of the budget, campaign period, results and what you will change next. Review advertising alongside promotions, platform deductions and the restaurant’s own costs.

Secret Sauce helps owners review campaigns and coordinate with platform account managers. The aim is a better commercial decision, rather than increasing spend for its own sake.
